L'EXODE
2008
2065. Pollution is at is paroxysm. The industry of emerging countries poured out more fine-particle dust in one year than all of Europe and the United States together during the last ten. This brutal increase in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere caused a rapid collapse of the ozone layer which created a rise of 10°Celsius in only nine months. This heating caused a rapid meltdown of the ice in Greenland and the Arctic. The meeting between salt water and fresh water disturbed the Gulfstream. The ocean current from the Gulf of Mexico that used to heat the waters and the climate in Western Europe. The increased arrival of fresh water from the north displaced the Gulfstream onto the coasts of southern Africa. This unexpected and violent climate change on a world wide scale brought about gigantic damage all over the planet: hail, tornados, waters rising tens of meters and temperatures of a magnitude never seen before. These repeated and devastating catastrophes obliged survivors to go into exodus in the mountains. |
